The
aim of Ayurveda is to lay the foundations of a sane and healthy
life style (Swasthavritta). With this intention, our Ayurvedic
programme, reaches out to the surrounding rural population as
a serious and concerted attempt in creating awareness of Ayurvedic
practices.
By its very nature the Aurvedic programme lays stress on preventative
medicine, with an emphasis on maintaining both physical and
mental health.
The Ayurvedic doctor regularly visits villages (15) around
Rishi Valley, raising awareness among women and children regarding
issues of health, hygiene and nutrition and also treating chronic
problems with the help of locally grown herbs, vegetables and
fruits. To acquaint teachers and students in the village with
15 basic herbal remedies that address commonly occurring ailments
is part of the programme.
Some complex medicines such as Ghanavati, Tailam, Churnas,
Lepa and kashayams are also prepared and are dispensed on a
regular basis towards curative purposes
The Doctor teaches Yoga to villagers as part of raising general
health levels of the people.
We are involving of our village neighbours in issues concerning,
diet, home remedies, preparation and usage of the Ayurvedic
kit and kitchen masala box. We dream of villages/towns having
sacred groves and herb gardens; of healthy villagers, who are
proud of their heritage yet open to scientific ways; of village
women who are fully aware of nutrition, hygiene and health
needs of their families
Dai Training: We are training a few literate women from each
village as grass-root level health workers. They are being
educated in primary health care, encompassing many of the issues
mentioned above.
Camps: Training and Information camps are frequently organized
for Natti Vaidyas, village teachers as well as grass-root
level health workers where information on traditional medicine/home
remedies is exchanged.
