The intended facility will be built to contain:

  • Physics Lab
  • Audio-visual facilities with a lecture and examination hall for about 50
  • Community Mathematics Center

The "Support Received" figure of 39,50,949/- does not include Alumni donations of 5,75,800/- towards general building fund.

The old lab was demolished as soon as the ISC and ICSE exams were over (April 2007, first week). The new building was commissioned as fully operational in June 2009, although the 2009 examinations in March were conducted in the hall.

The School is happy to inform that support for this project came from old students of:

(i) batches 1966 to 1976, thanks to the initiative taken by Lakshmikar Reddy (Karam), Madhukar Reddy and Vikram Reddy of 1968 batch.

(ii) batch 1975, thanks to the initiative taken by Venugopal Reddy , Satish Reddy (Kappa) and Pramod.

AV systems and Physics Laboratory equipment cost us 11,24,500/-. The purchase was supported by donations from old students and Parents. Contributions from old students were Rs. 3,22,025/-.

New Guest House

Requirement and rationale: Rishi Valley is now actively inviting resource persons, visiting faculty and performing artistes, and also conducting workshops and teacher training programs on a periodic basis for the Rural and other programs. It has also been the School’s requirement for several years now that parents visit their children once a term. Almost all prospective parents visit the school before admitting their children.

The guesthouse has been identified as a key facility relatively high on our priority list. It will serve the needs of all units that function under the umbrella of the School. Several visitors are accommodated in scattered places, which are difficult to service and administer. The guesthouse will be located in the mango garden opposite the main gate and security post, along with a facility for drivers and a caretaker. It will consist of 20-25 double-bed rooms, that includes a dorm. facility.

We are happy to inform that support for this project is coming from old students of 1982 ISC batch. This batch has responded quickly, spontaneously and innovatively to the School’s funding requirements, mobilising support from a large number of students in India and abroad. This is being made possible due to the initiatives taken by, amongst others, Dinesh Reddy, Nirupama and Meena.

** The donations collected from this batch in excess of the support pledged, has gone towards the purchase of an equipped ambulance for the use of the Rural Health Centre and School Hospital. The ambulance (Tempo Traveller) has been purchased and modifications completed at Bangalore. It is has since been commissioned.

ALUMNI GUEST HOUSE UNDER PROGRESS – 06-03-2008

Kitchen, Stores Block, and Dining Hall

Requirement and rationale: Parts of the existing building are almost 70 years old. The layout has been extended in an ad-hoc manner over the years, with multiple levels, leading to poor and inefficient workflow. The current structure therefore cannot be modernised effectively. A complete re-organisation of the entire kitchen, stores and dining hall infrastructure is being considered.

*Estimated cost: Rs.65 lakhs (including modern equipment, and furniture). Substantial escalation in costs is now confirmed, resulting in a revised building plan to incorporate some of the aesthetic low cost features of the temporary dining hall.

The temporary dining hall has been built at the 'old asthachal place' between the red house and the dining hall, for a cost of around 7 lakhs. The components of the structure is completely re-usable after it is dismantled in 2 1/2 years time.

The old dining hall is currently being converted into a new kitchen and stores. Work is underway. Purchase of kitchen equipment is complete.

**Funds required on a continuous basis towards material procurement.

We are happy to inform that support for this project is coming from old students of 1978 ISC batch. This is made possible thanks to the initiatives taken by, Divyesh Sheth, Hari Sankaran and Aroon Raman. With the cost escalation, we are hoping to rope in the help of other batches.

New Girls Hostel & Staff Quarters

Requirement and rationale: There has been a long felt need to reduce the number in the Senior Girls’ Hostel, and to provide more study space. A new hostel to house 16 girls is needed. Two staff quarters to house two families close to the hostel is also being planned.

Water Security

Requirement and rationale:

  • The drought cycles seem to be getting more acute each time.
  • In 2004 we had to buy water to supply to the school, even though we sunk 9 new bore wells. All of them dried up within a few months.
  • Several percolation tanks have been built to retain water.
  • Wastewater recycling is in place.
  • We propose to get a comprehensive hydro-geological and rainwater harvesting survey done as soon as funds become available.
  • Cost of actual measures to implement the recommendations can be estimated only after survey – GUESSTIMATE – Rs. 2+ crores
  • Cost of survey: Rs 12 lakhs

Funding is awaited

[1] Alumnus of 1981 batch has instituted a scholarship fund of Rs. 12,50,000/- towards the education of one child at Rishi Valley.
